An Ancestral Home Near Mirissa, Sri Lanka.

Offered to a small number of guests each year who need to step away from the noise and return to something that matters. The book waiting to be written. The research waiting to be done. The song waiting to be heard.

Stay Your Way

A family home in Kamburugamuwa, three kilometres from Mirissa. The trees are older than any of us. For a few months each year, we open it to a small number of people who need what a place like this gives. It is not for everyone. That is part of why it works.

Residency

For researchers, remote workers, writers, and professionals who need a real base in southern Sri Lanka for a couple of months.

  • If the book you've been meaning to write has waited long enough.
  • If your research needs a quiet address in the south, not a shared workspace.
  • If you're on a posting and want somewhere that actually feels like a home.
  • If the silence you've been looking for isn't available where you are right now.

Not for you if

  • You need hotel-style service or daily housekeeping
  • You're staying less than a month
  • You want someone else to manage your day

Exactly for you if

  • You need a whole private home to actually live and work in
  • You're self-sufficient and need space to think
  • You're drawn to nature over noise

Short Stays

Whole villa, exclusive use. Come for a few days and actually live somewhere, not just pass through.

  • If you want to cook a real meal in a real kitchen, not order from a hotel menu.
  • If you'd rather sit in a garden at dawn than by a pool.
  • If a few days somewhere quiet would do more for you than a week anywhere loud.

We don't have a pool. We have 60 perches of trees instead. Our guests keep telling us they didn't miss it.

Not for you if

  • You need a pool, a restaurant, or daily housekeeping
  • You want to be in the middle of Mirissa's nightlife
  • You're looking for the cheapest option in the area

Exactly for you if

  • You want to cook a proper meal in a real Sri Lankan kitchen
  • You're drawn to nature over noise
  • You want to feel like you actually lived somewhere, not just visited

"What an incredible accommodation: two kitchens, the best shower we had in Sri Lanka, spacious bedrooms, and a garden full of native birds, fresh bananas and coconuts. The host made us feel right at home, cooked traditional meals, gave us a garden tour, and shared an incredible amount of tips for our whole journey through Sri Lanka."
